I, Narelle, am the second daughter of Hazel Olive and James Henry Bennett, married 31/7/1943,Newcastle NSW Hi Colin, † Thank you for replying to the info I sent you.† The main and most obvious question I have is how are you related to my late Grandfather, Fred Gill, and in turn to me.† If you can supply this data to me I most likely have more family details to forward on which you could find helpful. † My mother , Hazel Olive Bennett (nee Gill), died on 19/8/1999, aged 79 years,†at Newcastle.† My father, James Henry Bennett, born†at Singleton NSW, 16/2/1921 died on 27th February( ?) 12010, (†89 years old)†in a nursing home at Brisbane, Qld† My only sister, Marilyn was born on 5/10/1947 and I†was born on 9/10/1953, both in Newcastle, NSW † My Aunt, Margorie Rose Wild (nee Gill) died in Wollongong, some years before my mother.† Her husband Adrian Ronald Wild passed away a few years later, in† a nursing home in†Brisbane/Ipswich area. They had 2 children, Gregory, (who although born in Newcastle, NSW,) lived in Whyalla, SA, and died in 2008/2009.in Adelaide, SA.) †and Glenda Lynette Ooostenbroek (nee Wild), born September, 1952,† Newcastle, NSW†.† There was a baby boy†born between Greg and Glenda but only lived a few days.† I believe his name and records are to be found at the large cemetery at Sandgate , on the northern sie of Newcastle. † My Uncle, Roy Henry Gill, passed away more recently in Wollongong, NSW.† He was married to Margaret Brewster in Wollongong (date unknown). He has 2 sons John (born in 1952)†who still lives in the Illawarra region, and Rodney (born 1955?) †who lives in Townsville, Qld. Margaret Gill†is still alive and living in the Wollongong area. Bridget Angela Edwards was the daughter of Patrick Edwards born 1837 Parramatta, NSW died 1 July 1893 Dalby, Qld. His parents are given as Patrick Edwards & Mary Pender. After having his family he married Bridget Dowd b.1836 Loughrea, Galway, Ireland. She died 15 November 1917. Her parents were John Dowd and Ellen Rowan. Bridget Dowd had married previously to Michael Gill 1851 Ipswich, Queensland and had children. I am a descendant of Patrick James Edwards B.1863 and am in contact with descendants of Ellen Mary Wilson(nee Edwards)b1871. They are siblings of your great grandmother, Bridget Angela Edwards. I have only found out in the last couple of days from Fiona Connor who is married to a descendant of Ellen Mary that Bridget Dowd was an Irish Famine Orphan who came on the ship "Thomas Arbuthnot" and arrived in Sydney on 3 February 1850 at age 15. I can send you a PDF file of my research on Bridget Dowd and her descendants. I did my initial research many years ago and have only took up the hunt on this line again last week, but with wonderful success, thanks to your information on the internet and getting back in contact with Ellen Mary's line. My only request if you want the PDF file is that you do not put the details of "living" descendants on the internet from our branches.
