Source for person: It appears that on Page-10 Randell has been misspelt as Flandell a few times. Also I believe the vessel on which Frederick Bond arrived in SA was the named \"Boyne\"; see below http://www.slsa.sa.gov.au/fh/passengerlists/1850Boyne-Register.jpg Incidently - It is likely that Frederick Bond was the carpenter who made the framework for Randell\'s \"Mary Ann\" steamboat ‎1 Oct 2012

Mr. Frederick Dennant Bond was born in the year 1822, and came from London. His wife was born in 1832, and came from "Shooters Hill", County Kent. They were married on March 6th, 1850, in St. Nicholas Parish, Deptford, County Kent, England, and left just after in the vessel "Bouyan", arriving in South Australia the same year.
Landing at Port Adelaide after a very rough passage, they travelled in a bullock dray to Gumeracha, and settled in a slab hut on the bank of the River Torrens, near the bridge at Mr. J. H. Hynes' residence, where Mr. Henry Dawson and family previously resided. Mr. Bond was a carpenter by trade. Following his trade he worked at the flour mill, and helped to construct the "Mary Ann", one of the first boats to navigate the River Murray. In 1856 he secured a section of land from the Government in Retreat Valley, about a mile and a half from Gumeracha, and planted an orchard. He first collected the pips from apples gathered from the orchard at "Sulby Glen", Cudlee Creek ("Father" Kelly's home), raised seedlings, and grafted the stocks. In 1884 the family removed to Kenton Valley, and four years later settled in Payneham.
Fifty years ago Mr. Bond applied his knowledge of hydraulics to the creation of a cheap form of pump for pumping kerosene from tins, which, had he been shrewd enough to patent, would have returned handsome royalties to him instead of to neighbours who saw its possibilities. This is possibly the first time this rather interesting information has been published.
Mr. Bond's family consisted of 13 children, of whom six died in infancy. Later, Alice died at the age of 32 years, and another daughter, who married Mr. J. Sandercock of Kenton Valley, passed away in 1923. The surviving members of the family are, William V. Bond, Mesdames A. Swann, S. Gent, M. Cornish, and I. A. Bowden. Mr. and Mrs. Bond, senr., died at the age of 87 years and 91 years, respectively.
