Dalby was strongly represented at the Kingaroy Masters Carnival.

J.J. McGahan played in the first three games, and G.L. Sandercock took his place when there was a bereavement in his family.
S.E. Keys eliminated R.B. Derrick in the singles 31-30 at the 39th end after three hours of play, and beat the titleholder (M. Davey, of South Coast) 31-26 in the semi-final. He lost to A. Semgreen (Kingaroy), who won the title twice previously, and took the final, 18-31 in a semi final.
T.E. Head and Keys qualified for a quarter-final of the pairs, but the latter had to play in the singles, and R. Brinkley joined Head, who became skip. They lost 15-23.


BROTHERS Gerald Sandercock, of Dalby, and Don Sandercock, of Oakey, got up in a whirlwind finish to take their section in Newmarket's invitation masters pairs bowls competition yesterday.
The brothers, in a shaky start, lost the first game to Elwyn Harnell and Eric Hutton 13-15. In the next round they recovered some lost ground to beat former State champion Percy Bassett and Alan McMahon 15-11.
The Sandercockís "killed" Doug Brown and Len Leinster 25-4 in the third game to take the section. Brown and Leinster appeared to have she section in safe keeping after beating Harnell and Hutton 23-8 and Bassett and McMahon 13-10.
Other section winners yesterday were:- Frank Vowles - Bill Nolan; Roy Smith - Jack Menzies; Graham and Aub Stanton; Tom Harmer; Arch Menzies: Bill Sinton - Bob Glasson: Norm Woodrow - Laurie Hall; Trixie Mattiazzi - Heck Hodggen: Frank Hegarty - Lou Murray; Alan But1er - Ernie Page: Stan Booth - Eric Miles.
Former State and Metropolitan champion Lou Murray, afner a serious illness, combined with Hegarty to beat skips Les Gilbert 18-9, Fred O'Neill 16-11, and Peter Musso 13-10.
Among ton players competing today will be Tom Harvey (South Africa), Les Shean, Bob Purcell, Albert Newton (formerly of N.S.W.). State players Stan Coomber, Ted Blacker, Alan Schulte. Lance Wood, Errol Stewart, Bob Baird, Ernie Silverton and Cyril Hornick.


The Patron’s Fours competition on Sunday afternoon was won by J. G. Gibbings, C. Fletcher, T. Dowling and G.L. Sandercock who received the trophies given by patron A. B. Carvosso.
