DEATH OF MR. D. S, PATERSON.
The death of Mr. David Skene Paterson, of Croxley, Toowoomba, occurred on November 29th, after a short iliness. The late Mr. Paterson, who was the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Paterson, of Prospect HiIl, Wellcamp, was born at Toowoomba, on July 18th, 1869. He was best known in the Blackall district, where the greater part of his life was spent (says the "Courier.") He Joined Moffat Bros., Bloomfield, as a Jackeroo, in 1891, ultimately becoming manager of their station. He afterwards became manager of Thornleigh and Springfield, for the late Mr. J. H. Hart. In 1914 he acquired a sheep property near Blackall, and in 1917 undertook the management of Athol for Mr. W. G. Davies, during his absence at the war. He was a public-spirited man, and was well- known on most of the public bodies of that district, having been chairman of the Kargoolnah Shire Council, delegate of the executive of the United Graziers' Assoclation, member of the hospital committee, and treasurer of the Blackall Club. The late Mr. Paterson was a man of kindly personality and of strict integrity, and was held in high esteem by all classes in the community. In 1927, the deceased gentleman purchased Croxley, where he lived till his death. In 1899 he married Miss Lucy Moffat, elder daughter of Mr. John Moffat, Camoola Park, Longreach, and he is survived by his widow, four sons, and two grandchildren. The sons are Messrs. John Moffat Paterson (manager of Athol), James Hugh Paterson, Thomas Skene Paterson, and David Skene Paterson, all of Croxley.
